Description

Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist who wants to help shape mental health care for women across different levels of security? Join The Farndon Unit, a friendly, committed and long established Mental Health Service.
Our hospital rated good across all domains by the CQC, is a small friendly unit, that provides care for up to 46 women across 3 low secure wards (26 beds), one level 2 rehabilitation ward (12 beds) and our new psychiatric rehabilitation ward (8 beds) aimed at individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and comorbid mental illness.
You will join 2 full time psychiatrists, an associate specialist and an established multidisciplinary team at the Farndon Unit and act as a Responsible Clinician for the 8 inpatients on the newly developed rehabilitation ward and up to 8 patients on our existing level 2 rehab service. You will have the support of an associate specialist working across both wards, a full multidisciplinary team, a personal assistant, a CPA Co-ordinator and a MHA Co-ordinator.

Responsibilities
  • Working effectively with patients and colleagues to ensure the best care and treatment outcomes
  • Driving multidisciplinary care and leading and managing the CPA and ICR process of reviews
  • Contributing to service development and governance processes e.g. via quality improvement work
  • Building positive relationships with external stakeholders such as ICBs
  • Undertaking psychiatric assessments for women referred to the unit to determine if we can best meet their needs
  • Providing oral and written evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearings
  • Delivery of evidence-based treatment approaches in line with NICE guidance
  • Medication management
  • Co-production of therapeutic treatment plans with our service users
  • Participation in our 1 in 8 on-call rota that covers 2 tiers of support to 8 units across the Midlands and Yorkshire regions The on-call is entirely remote and mostly involves telephone support and advice.
