Lake Technical College Instiitute of Public Safety
Responsible for instructing Firefighter recruits in accordance with the standards and curriculum of the Florida State Fire College (FSFC). This includes delivering core Firefighter I and II coursework, leading Physical Training (PT) sessions, and providing instruction in advanced fire service classes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Florida State Fire College-approved Fire Instructor certification (Instructor I or higher)
  • Florida Certified Firefighter II
  • EMS certification preferred (EMT or Paramedic)
  • Experience in Fire Service training or operations required
  • Strong communication, leadership, and instructional skills

Responsibilities
  • Teach FSFC-mandated curriculum to Firefighter recruits, ensuring full compliance with state training requirements
  • Conduct and supervise daily physical fitness training tailored to fire service demands
  • Instruct in advanced firefighting subjects, such as RIT (Rapid Intervention Team), Pump Operations, Aerial Operations, and Live Fire training
  • Prepare lesson plans, practical evolutions, and testing in accordance with FSFC standards
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, performance, and certifications
  • Ensure the safety of students during all classroom and hands-on training activities
  • Assist with preparation and readiness for State Firefighter Certification testing
  • Collaborate with academy staff and training officers to continuously improve program delivery and training effectiveness
