Work with York Limited are working with a local authority client to recruit an Adult Education Tutor covering Maths and English. The role is delivering two separate Maths and/or English courses, both online and within York community venues.
This is a part time, temporary role, for 6 hours per week, including one evening and during term time only. The assignment is to start from mid-September 2025 to the end of June/beginning of July 2026.
A competitive hourly rate of pay is available.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POST
A suitable teaching qualification and preferably recent experience of teaching Functional Skills Maths/English
Minimum of a grade C/4 in Maths and English.
A qualification at a higher level than the level they will be teaching. For example, if teaching Level 2 maths, must have an A level in Maths.
A clear enhanced DBS – child workforce (with child barred list) records check will be required.
Able to demonstrate awareness of both the rewards and the specific challenges of working with adult learners and an appreciation of support for additional needs.

Responsibilities
Planning and delivering a scheme of work for each course for adult (19+) learners. This may include learners with additional needs, working at Entry 1 up to Level 2/GCSE.
The courses will be accredited, so experience will be needed delivering Functional Skills and other accredited Maths/English qualifications and an understanding of the quality processes involved.
Working as part of a small creative team, taking part in regular team meetings and sharing resources.
Excellent IT skills are required, as all courses contain a large element of IT, such as Google Classroom, Zoom teaching for online classes and BKSB resources.
