POSITION SUMMARY The Adult Job Coach will support the Employment Specialist position to assist individuals with disabilities obtain and maintain employment. The Adult Job Coach will help find employment opportunities that are suitable for a client, support the client in following up on job applications, attending interviews, aid in the training of the client and will provide transportation for the client as needed. The Adult Job Coach is an entry-level position, but opportunities are available for advancement into the Employment Specialist position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable Accommodations Statement To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Develops relationships with area businesses to create additional job opportunities for clients; completes Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with area businesses. 2. Searches for employment opportunities that match the client’s interests, abilities and are within a reasonable distance to their home. This may include researching online job boards and social media. Activities may also include networking with hiring managers and human resources to promote service in efforts to find opportunities. 3. Assists clients during employment assignments to improve soft skills as well as build vocational skills; provides feedback and guidance to ensure employment is successful. 4. Creates accommodations for clients to ensure employment success to include task lists, putting reminders on phone, modifying tasks based on client’s learning style, and others as needed. 5. Works with supervisors at partner job sites to ensure that any issues are addressed as quickly as possible. 6. Ensures good communication with clients, families and Vocational Rehabilitation both in person or through verbal and written communications. 7. Attends orientation and training sessions with a client once placed with an employer to provide coaching on the position duties. 8. Assists the Employment Specialist with preparing P&A’s and final reports. 9. Visits clients a minimum of once per week or more if client requires more support or if it is at the beginning of a new employment experience. 10. Records specifics of client employment for billing purposes. 11. Maintains regular contact with clients via phone, text or email to communicate appointments, scheduled interviews and to ensure support. 12. Writes detailed case notes for clients outlining all phone, text or in person interactions. 13. Attends Vocational Rehabilitation staffing meetings at their local VR office. 14. Completes monthly progress notes for clients by specific day of each month. 15. Drives clients to various locations as needed. 16. Other related tasks as directed. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competency Statement(s) • Job Knowledge • Interpersonal Skills • Communication • Sales Skills • Organizational Skills • Time Management SKILLS & ABILITIES Education/Experience: Education: High School diploma required; some college including a degree in any field preferred Experience: No experience necessary; experience working with individuals with a disability and/or prior counseling, job placement, job coaching or working within public vocational rehabilitation programs is preferred Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Suite, adobe and web based database systems Other Requirements: • Open availability required. • Ability to pass a level 2 background check • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, auto registration, auto insurance coverage-minimum ($50,000 property/$100,000 personal injury liability) • Bilingual is a plus (English / Spanish); ASL is a plus. • Confidentiality and the ability to handle multiple deadlines is required. Supervision: No supervisory responsibilities. Travel: Local travel required.
