Adult Learning Disabilities Speech and Language Therapist Banding: Band 6/7 Location: London (Uxbridge Civic Centre, High Street, Uxbridge UB8 1UW) Start Date: ASAP Rate: £24.00–£32.00 per hour Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Adult Learning Disabilities Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist team supporting adults with a range of communication and swallowing needs. Based at Uxbridge Civic Centre, you will work with adults who have Learning Disabilities (LD), delivering highly specialist assessments and interventions that promote safety, independence, and improved communication outcomes. This role is suited to Band 6 or Band 7 therapists with strong clinical expertise in Learning Disabilities, dysphagia management, and complex communication needs. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary framework, contributing your specialist skills to support service users across a diverse community caseload. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: • Use highly specialist clinical skills to manage and prioritise a complex caseload of adults with Learning Disabilities presenting with communication and/or swallowing difficulties. • Provide highly specialist assessment of communication and swallowing needs, using advanced clinical reasoning to form hypotheses and make sound, evidence-based clinical judgements. • Deliver tailored intervention plans that promote functional communication and safe eating/drinking practices. • Work closely with MDT colleagues, families, carers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards. • Participate in service planning, audits, and quality improvement initiatives where appropriate. Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this role, you must have: • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent). • HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership. • Experience working with adults with Learning Disabilities, including complex communication needs. • Competence in dysphagia assessment and management. • Strong clinical reasoning skills and confidence working autonomously. • Excellent interpersonal and multi-disciplinary team communication skills.
