Adult Treatment Counselor – Project Recovery The Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse (CADA) is hiring a Treatment Counselor to join a team of Counselors for Project Recovery outpatient treatment services program. Monday - Friday 3pm-8pm (part-time) TITLE: Treatment Counselor REPORTS TO: Adult Programs Supervisor Program Manager QUALIFICATIONS: English/Spanish bi-lingual and bi-cultural helpful. AOD State Certified is required and College degree or certificate in helping profession (Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) preferred, equivalent experience acceptable. Minimum two-year experience in the field of alcohol/drug counseling required. Clear knowledge of Harm Reduction and Harm Reduction practices Specific knowledge of individual and group counseling- principles and techniques, of substance abuse assessment and case management. Knowledge of resources for treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation in South Santa Barbara County. Ability to communicate verbally with professionals and with clients from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to communicate verbally with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to recognize own professional limitations so that proper referrals can be made. High standard of professional ethics. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting clients in identifying problem areas in client’s life. Conducting a thorough comprehensive assessment. Providing ASAM screenings throughout client’s treatment episode identifying appropriate standard of care for client. Conducting daily individual and group substance abuse counseling, education, and relapse prevention sessions. Timely and appropriate Client File Documentation, and Case Notes within the guidelines of the Organized Delivery System of care (ODS) formally Title 22. Knowledge of all ODS guidelines and attendance to ODS trainings. Maintaining case notes properly documenting client’s progress and attendance. Case notes are to be to the ODS standard of documentation using Title 22 language and definitions. Keeping abreast of the current literature and research in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction/abuse. Assuring that all treatment paperwork and records are accurately maintained and routed in a timely manner. Always upholding a professional image of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and Program. Performing additional related duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Director.
Responsibilities
The counselor will conduct daily individual and group substance abuse counseling, education, and relapse prevention sessions while assisting clients in identifying problem areas in their lives. Responsibilities also include performing thorough comprehensive assessments, ASAM screenings, and maintaining timely and appropriate client file documentation according to ODS guidelines.
