BGC Okanagan is hiring an Adult, Youth and Child Counsellor. As an Adult, Youth, and Child Counsellor with BGCO, you will evaluate client challenges and create tailored counselling plans for individuals, families, and groups to create positive change!
You will also be expected to conduct sessions using diverse therapeutic techniques, offer skill-building support, and deliver case management services to address specific needs effectively. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related human / social service field, two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current First Aid Certification
  • Possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with appropriate liability insurance
    This position is open to all applicants.
    This position requires union membership to CUPE.
    Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
    Rate of Pay: $38.68 an hour

Responsibilities:

  • Gathers information relevant to clients’ problems by interviewing, observing behavior, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists and questionnaires. Conducts structured analyses of the information gathered to provide an assessment of client’s problems.
  • Evaluates client challenges and creates tailored counselling plans for individuals, families, and groups.
  • Provides skill-building in areas such as parenting skills, anger management and self-management techniques.
  • Conducts sessions using diverse therapeutic techniques, offers skill-building support, and delivers case management services to address specific needs effectively.
  • Provides case management services and consultation to other service providers. Provides information on and refers clients to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
  • Monitors client’s progress and provides follow-up planning.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the supervisor as required.
  • Liaises with and/or promotes the interests of clients with other community service providers, professionals and or school personnel as required.
