Who You Are
You are a dedicated and experienced Consultant Social Worker with a degree or equivalent and current registration with Social Work England. You have significant post-qualification experience in statutory Children’s Social Care services, working with complex families, and managing complexity in both multi-agency and court environments. Your skills include producing clear, concise reports, effective collaboration with safeguarding partners, and comprehensive knowledge of legislative frameworks such as the Children Act 1989/2004, the Adoption & Children Act 2002, and others. You are proficient in applying needs-led assessment and planning, adept in conflict resolution, and solution-focused approaches. You demonstrate effective use of information technology and adhere strictly to professional and ethical standards. A full UK driver’s license, access to a car and laptop, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and professional development are essential. Desirably, you have supervisory experience and exhibit strong skills in organizing workloads under fluctuating demands.
What the Job Involves
You will be responsible for supporting the management, development, and leadership of the Early Help team to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children, young people, and their families. Your role involves delivering high-quality services that address specific needs, lead to improved outcomes, and uphold the reputation of the Service and the Council. You will supervise and check the work of other social work staff, providing guidance and encouraging critical reflection to enhance practice quality. Implementing effective needs-led assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making strategies are key components of your responsibilities. You will ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance Framework and produce high-standard work within defined timescales. Your commitment to upholding Liverpool City Council’s Vision and Values and ensuring equality and diversity in practice is integral.
