This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work as an advanced diabetes dietitian providing high quality care to young adults with diabetes. You would be working alongside a highly specialist, patient-centred diabetes service and would be part of a wider Nutrition and Dietetics department who are a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team.
As an HCPC registered Dietitian, provide expert dietetic service to the MDT and a caseload of primarily transition-aged diabetes patients.
Engage with, advise and train other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with diabetes.
Work as a senior member of the Dietetic Department, in the promotion of a high-quality patient-focused service and contributing to service development and cover.

o Practical knowledge and skills required for insulin pump therapy for people with Type 1 diabetes
o Education to people with diabetes to enable them to adjust their insulin dosages and carbohydrate in order to achieve their targets for blood glucose control.
o Education regarding technology and data interpretation for example continuous blood glucose monitoring.
o Identification of appropriate treatment aims for people with type 2 diabetes using blood glucose-lowering agents and explain their mechanisms of action. Working with the multidisciplinary team to make suggestions to the suitable glucose-lowering agents.
o Secondary care clinics and outreach
o BERTIE and Living With Diabetes (for newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes) group education.
o Antenatal clinics
o Inpatient care at Dorset County Hospital.
o Indirect patient care via support to secondary care staff e.g. MDT meetings, Advice & Guidance enquiries, support to other DCH dietitians.
