ADVANCED 3D TOOLING DESIGNER - FOUNDRY SPECIALIST

The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate should include the following:

  • Work closely with foundry tooling engineers to design, configure, and build layout of mold and core box tooling, including multi-cavity layouts
  • Design cores and patterns using 3D CAD software (PowerShape, Inventor, Creo, NX, etc.) for modifications like shrink, draft, radii, and fillets
  • Assist CAM designers with transferring model information for CNC cut path generation to ensure accurate tooling
  • Recommend process improvements and new technologies, collaborate with pattern personnel on tooling rework strategies, and provide training as needed
  • Create detailed build and assembly drawings for the pattern shop, addressing any questions and ordering necessary materials

The background of the successful candidate must include the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of 3D CAD experience, proficient in surfacing, applying non-uniform shrink/draft/parting, and creating 3D models from 2D layouts
  • Minimum of 5 years of tool design experience
  • Ability to calculate stock materials, compare 3D models to 2D casting layouts for accuracy, and strong understanding of pattern offsets
  • A stable work history
  • Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder
  • Reside within a 45-minute commute to Weyauwega, WI
