Honeywell Aerospace Technologies Yeovil (HATY) site designs and manufactures multiple products for military and civil aerospace application. It specializes in several product lines including: Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Life Support Systems (LSS), and Control & Data Systems. ECS involves various types of Valves, Air Supply & Water Separation systems. LSS involves BRAG regulators, OBOG, BOS and CO CAT Systems. Control and Data Systems involves: Electronic Controllers, Sensors, Air quality control and measurement systems.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of a Degree or HNC/HND in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology or similar.
  • Experience in a materials design/selection and/or process engineering role is preferred.
  • Experience would be beneficial in any of the following: writing specifications, drawing review & approval, product failure investigations, technical reports writing, documentation change management, developing process parameters, troubleshooting or auditing manufacturing processes (incl. special processes), process control and compliance.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry or with a supplier to aerospace industry preferred. The job involves knowledge of aerospace materials specifications and the manufacturing processes used to make the part. Experience with NADCAP and Industry specification requirements is desirable.
  • Experience as a Technologist or Technical advisor would be beneficial
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with Aerospace Materials Processes, Process Selection, Specification and Applications is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate clearly & concisely on complex technical matters to various levels in the organisation.
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize tasks quickly in a dynamically changing environment and analytical skills
  • Composites knowledge is advantageous
Responsibilities

This Honeywell Aerospace Technologies Yeovil Materials Engineering position will participate in Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams for new and existing products involving various aerospace components in HATY portfolio. The role is scoped around using advanced knowledge of rubbers and other non-metallic materials and manufacturing processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain design requirements for manufacturing processes and materials (e.g. technical reports, internal standards)
  • Participate in designing & re-designing hardware (e.g. new products development or producibility improvements)
  • Obsolete materials evaluation, impact analysis, also development and qualification of new alternatives (e.g. due to environment regulations)
  • Investigation & disposition non-conformances and Materials Laboratory testing oversight
  • Evaluate performance and/or compliance of suppliers’ special processes e.g. technical audits, NADCAP

The role will interface & support multiple internal and external customers.
Internal customers include: Design, Stress, Performance Engineering, Materials Laboratory, Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, Procurement, Sourcing.
External customers include: other Honeywell Aerospace sites, external suppliers, OEM manufacturers being supplied by HAY.
