JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Band 7 Senior Nurse to provide clinical leadership, treatment and therapy with a clear focus on clinical risk and its management. The successful candidate will need to influence, lead and motivate staff at all levels within the clinical environment to deliver high quality care according to Trust values, to provide expertise, support and advice regarding all aspects of clinical care including implementing evidence based best practice.
Working with people with an eating disorder can be both challenging and rewarding and we are looking for a Senior Nurse who will support the Clinical Team Manager and staff to deliver safe and high-quality care for this complex patient group.
This is an exciting time for our Adult Eating Disorder Service, we have an established FREED Pathway and we are also participating in regional pilot projects (Virtual Intensive Treatment and Intensive Clinical Support) whilst also developing our SEED Pathway.

Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

This role is offered on a permanent basis with the potential for flexibility in working hours and some remote working with the base being either Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich but with the expectation that you will work across both areas.
The post holder will be an experienced Eating Disorder practitioner who, acting within their own professional boundaries, will provide care for adult service users with eating disorders. Supporting the Clinical Team Manager and leadership team, the post holder will actively participate in the day to day clinical and operational management of the Adult Eating Disorders Team within the locality, be part of a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the development of the services they support. They will demonstrate safe clinical decision-making, and sound clinical expertise and knowledge of eating disorders and their treatments. The post holder will support the leadership team to meet the needs of the service users and contribute to service improvements and supervision of other members of the team.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide advice and leadership to clinical staff in areas related to clinical care including, treatment, therapy and clinical risk assessment and management
  • Oversight of physical Health Monitoring Clinics
  • Facilitate and consult in relation to acute hospital admissions within MEED Guidelines
  • Provide consultation support and supervision to teams on issues relating to nursing practice.
  • Be a role model in initiating, facilitating and promoting excellence in Evidence Based Nursing Practice
  • Work alongside the both the clinical care team and relevant teams including governance and research department to utilise information and data to support the implementation and embedding of best practice.
  • Develop process and systems to share learning from local and national research and National guidance
  • Ensure any learning is embedded and sustained in clinical services
  • Provide caseload management supervision to junior staff and assist with the supervision of peers if requested.
