Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, person-centred Specialist Physiotherapist with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. You will lead a high-quality physiotherapy service for adults with mental health difficulties at the Redwoods Hospital in Shrewsbury.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead a specialist physiotherapy service for adults with complex mental health issues and comorbidities.
Demonstrate advanced and expert clinical reasoning skills in the assessment and management of a diverse and complex/specialist caseload (with mobility, postural and respiratory needs) alongside the development, implementation and evaluation of care/support packages.
Provide holistic, evidence-based care that includes shared decision making and a patient centred approach
Offer leadership, teaching, and supervision activities to physiotherapy and multi-disciplinary teams across all wards, including acute and dementia care.
Manage a small, diverse caseload of patients with mobility, postural, and respiratory needs.
Operate autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrate evaluative skills (through audit and research) to evidence the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic interventions within the service to cover the research pillar of practice

MAIN DUTIES:

Professional Accountability: Manage own caseload and direct clinical care, adhering to professional codes of conduct.
Specialist Assessments: Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for clients with complex needs, using clinical reasoning to diagnose and develop treatment plans.
Specialist Advice: Provide advice to other professionals and conduct single assessments to meet clients’ holistic care needs.
Treatment Plans: Develop and deliver individual treatment plans based on specialist knowledge, shared decision making and evidence-based practices.
Knowledge Maintenance: Demonstrate ongoing knowledge maintenance and competency across the pillars of advanced practice

Extensive experience in leading and delivering project-based work , with a strong focus on service development, quality improvement, and patient-centred care. Proven ability to manage projects from conception through to implementation and evaluation, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and clinical governance standards.
Substantial experience working within inpatient mental health settings , demonstrating a deep understanding of the complexities of physical health needs in mental health populations. Skilled in delivering specialist physiotherapy interventions, promoting recovery, and supporting multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient outcomes.
Evidence and experience of leading and managing change initiatives to drive service improvement and innovation. This includes redesigning care pathways, introducing evidence-based practices, and embedding new models of care. Adept at engaging stakeholders, managing resistance, and ensuring sustainable transformation that improves both service delivery and patient experience.
On occasion the post holder will be expected to support Business continuity plans with colleagues at Stafford hospital at times on an urgent needs basis/as necessary.
