Responsibilities

As the Advanced Powertrain Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the physical and functional design and integration of a mechanical system within the aircraft, from concept development through to system certification
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop optimised, innovative solutions for the complex demands of hybrid powertrain systems.
  • Develop concept designs from clean paper to a working prototypes.
  • Working on all aspects of powertrain integration design against requirements in a fast paced environment including Packaging, Cooling and Thermal management
  • Able to populate DFMEA, manage requirements, manage 2D and 3D drawing, apply good GD&T techniques and use the company PLM system.
  • Design of composite and metallic structures enclosures would be included in some of the tasks. You are a team player that has great communication skills.
  • Design test rings and fixtures.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • A solid level of base knowledge of electrical and hybrid systems including Cooling, Fuel and Thermal management
  • Proven capability of carrying out complex design and development
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Understanding of basic structural loading
  • Good practical mindset, ideally with hands-on experience of integrating mechanical systems in a lab or live environment.
  • Experience with CATIA V6 (3Dx) is advantageous, alternatively experience with other PLM/CAD systems to manage the engineering lifecycle.
