About The Opportunity
Campbelltown Hospital is recruiting for an Advanced Trainee General medicine . Life at South Western Sydney Local Health District is rewarding, progressive and diverse and is always focused on achieving our Vision of Leading Care & Healthier Communities.
Campbelltown Hospital Has an Established and growing Department of General and Acute Care Medicine. The General Medicine Advanced Trainee positions provide excellent exposure to General Medicine and MAU along with access to sub-specialty clinics. There is strong support from a number of staff specialties and VMOs within the department.
The General Medicine AT will work in the Campbelltown Hospital Acute and General Medicine department which incorporates the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and General Medicine ward which primarily admit patients via the hospital’s emergency department (ED).
Overall, this is an excellent training opportunity for the AT with supportive clinical supervision and access to gain experience in teaching, quality improvement activities and research.
Campbelltown Hospital has a long standing General Medicine department which, in collaboration with increasing sub-specialisation within the facility, provides the trainee with a vibrant training environment.
The advanced trainee will have responsibilities to both the MAU and General Medicine ward.
The MAU is a 24 bed inpatient unit and t he General Medicine ward has 30 beds and manages a range of medical inpatients.
In total there are 3 teams (1 MAU 2 General Medicine) comprising one Trainee and one Intern. The AT will play an important role in supervising and supporting the General Medicine/MAU teams along with the broader multidisciplinary teams in each unit.
The Advanced Trainee will be responsible for the co-ordination of the weekly-fortnightly MAU/General Medicine outpatient follow-up clinic.
With consultant support, this is an important service for the early follow-up of patients. There will also be the option of the AT attending a sub-specialty clinic dependent on their learning needs and availability.
