POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, the Advancement Officer, Development Programs serves as the primary point of contact for development programs, particularly the Annual Campaign and Leadership Giving, as well as Alumni Reunion, Faculty & Staff, Parents, and Special Campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience in a fundraising or not-for profit environment
  • Experience with direct mail, phone and face-to-face solicitation activities is essential
  • Extensive experience with the use and management of databases and fundraising software
  • Familiarity with the post-secondary education environment is an asset
  • Experience in program-based fundraising activities
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Creativity, tact, diplomacy and problem-solving skills are essential; demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and respect confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and priorities
  • Strong team player who values collaboration
  • Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office Suite, CRM and databases (ie ARBOR, Adobe, Imodules)
Responsibilities

The incumbent works with supervisor and colleagues within the Advancement Team at St. Mike’s as well as the Division of University Advancement at the University of Toronto to:

  • Prepare prospects lists for mail and email campaigns
  • Interacts with employees and/or students/clients encompassing diversity of background.
  • Ensure content for mailings is developed and approved
  • Responsibility for information follow up with Leadership Giving prospects by telephone and in-person meetings
  • Monitor mailing activities and provide status reports to supervisor
  • Assess and report on fundraising progress and campaign outcomes
  • Participate in identifying prospects from the LAG portfolio for the Major Gift program
  • Participate in planning and execution of Development Programs
  • Support events and activities as required as a member of the Advancement Team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
