Hoxton Insurance Services is a fast‑growing, digital MGA specialising in upper mid to lower high net worth household insurance. As the business continues to scale rapidly, we are seeking a confident and commercially minded Trading Underwriter to join us on a 7–12 month maternity cover, with genuine potential for extension. About the Role As a Trading Underwriter, you’ll underwrite mid and high net worth household business within your delegated authority, while delivering excellent service to our broker partners. You’ll apply strong technical knowledge alongside a proactive, trading‑focused approach to drive profitable growth. Key Responsibilities Underwrite mid/high net worth household risks within delegated authority. Build and strengthen broker relationships through regular trading conversations, SLA adherence, meetings and training. Trade effectively on new business and renewals to improve conversion and retention while maintaining underwriting discipline and delivering consistent profit to our capacity provider. Handle internal referrals and support junior colleagues with technical guidance. Produce underwriting referrals for capacity provider approval as required. Complete monthly peer review audits to maintain underwriting quality. Support the growth of broker schemes in collaboration with the Trading Manager. Identify opportunities for underwriting and process improvement, contributing to enhanced guidance and capability. Maintain CPD and stay up to date with market, product and regulatory developments. Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture. What We’re Looking For Skills & Experience Ideally 5+ years’ property underwriting experience, preferably within mid/high net worth personal lines (other backgrounds considered). A strong trading track record with evidence of high conversion rates. Solid understanding of MNW/HNW markets, wordings and core insurance principles. Confident, creative decision‑maker operating within delegated authority. Experience in trading, account development and building profitable books of business. Personal Attributes Highly customer‑focused with excellent communication skills. Clear, approachable and confident when explaining complex underwriting decisions. Analytical, detail‑driven and well‑organised. Able to manage workload effectively in line with business priorities. Adaptable, curious and committed to ongoing development.
