About the role
We are seeking to appoint an Advice Assistant to join our Student Advice & Guidance department and support the work of our Disability Advice, Student Advice, International Advice, Money Advice and Sexual & Domestic Violence Response services.
Working across and alongside our specialist Advisors the role supports the provision of timely and precise information, advice and guidance to current and prospective students on student support related matters.
The Advice Assistant role is a key liaison point dealing with students and helping to effectively triage incoming enquiries in a friendly, supportive, discreet and professional manner. Providing initial support by ensuring smooth communication, timely resolution of queries and effective service delivery both within Student Advice & Guidance and wider University services.
You will assist with the day to day support and communication for Student Advice & Guidance teams, to ensure the effective and efficient handling of requests for advice and ensuring cases are escalated appropriately to relevant specialist Advisors for follow up.
About you
You will have at least a working knowledge of student support services, and an awareness of the issues affecting students at university along with a commitment to supporting students to overcome barriers and achieve their potential. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to explain information in a clear and effective manner both in person and in writing.
You will be able to demonstrate effective planning and organisational skills, along with a well-developed range of administrative skills, and will have the ability to work consistently with close attention to detail.
You will thrive working as part of team within a busy student support service area and have a commitment to delivering a high-quality student experience.
