Location: GARAS Centre, Gloucester
Responsible to: Advice Team Manager and Director
GARAS is recruiting an Advice and Support Worker to work across our Youth and Adult
team. The role will involve giving advice on housing and benefits, predominantly to young
people leaving care, whilst also working with adults for part of the time.
The successful candidate will work alongside our UASC Lead and within a small Advice Team,
supporting young people to navigate the accommodation and benefits system as they
become adults and gain their refugee status. In addition, the role will provide advice and
support to adults who have recently been granted their refugee status. This support will
include impartial and non-directive advice, information on what support and help they are
entitled to, help to access education, financial support and welfare services.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone interested in working on the frontline
of a dynamic and fast-paced, client-facing charity. We are looking for an exceptional
individual, committed to go the extra mile and convey our passion to support and transform
the lives of young people in our care.
It is essential that the successful candidate holds a full driving licence, and the post is subject
to Disclosure and Barring Checks.
