Salary band & range: E / F - $74,964 to $113,953 depending on skills and experience

Responsibilities

KORERO MO TE TURANGA - ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regulatory and Risk Assurance team is a new team that will ensure the consistency and calibration of the Biosecurity Import and Export Standards Directorate’s regulatory activities and coherence, and alignment of biosecurity risk analysis across the Directorate and wider organisation.
As our Adviser / Senior Adviser, you will be supported to explore highly innovative approaches to co-design products and services that enhance our regulatory system. You will be able to confidently and successfully work with a range of subject matter experts to identify and develop new and better ways to achieve regulatory outcomes. You will facilitate innovative approaches to problems, particularly those that improve accessibility and compliance, reduce complexity and minimise costs.

To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable with dealing with ambiguity, be naturally inquisitive and will bring the following skills or experience:

  • proven experience in applying human-centred design/design-methodology including journey-mapping, desktop and ethnographic research, co-design, ideation workshopping etc. with evidence of contributing to/leading delivering products and services that have been applied in the real world;
  • experience/knowledge/interest in regulatory design;
  • ability to quickly understand the nature of problems and identify a range of possible solutions (including their implications);
  • ability to plan projects and deliver them on time, within agreed resources;
  • you will be a champion of change and be the `voice of the customer’ making our rules accessible, useable and desirable;
  • an interest or experience working in the Biosecurity system;
  • strong relationship management skills including establishing, building and maintaining key working relationships with users;
  • excellent communication skills with the ability write in plain English and tailor messages to your audience;
  • experience using InDesign, Figma, Canva or other similar tools
