ABOUT US
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Office develops and implements initiatives aimed at advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within the learning and working environments across the Faculty of Arts & Science. In collaboration with staff and academic administrators in the Office of the Dean, Human Resources offices and various academic units, the EDI Office builds professional development and educational initiatives for all levels of the Arts & Science community. The EDI Office also focusses on policies and practices concerning accessibility, anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion.
I. EDUCATION:
Graduate degree in a relevant area of study, preferably with a focus on dispute resolution, human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification or additional training in conflict resolution, equity and inclusion, and/or change management an asset.
II. EXPERIENCE:
Minimum four (4) years of related experience in delivering programming with an in depth understanding of complex and intersectional issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion in a post-secondary setting or similar complex organization
Demonstrated experience in and understanding of complex issues related to equity and diversity as they relate to the student experience and the workplace strongly preferred; Experience in curriculum design and delivery, adult learning principles, group facilitation, assessment and evaluation techniques; Experience in developing antiracism and cultural diversity programming initiatives and case management; Demonstrated experience and competence in developing targeted training to diverse groups; Demonstrated experience in project management and advancing EDI projects within a post-secondary environment or similar complex organization; Demonstrated experience in research, developing public education materials, promotional materials; and/or community initiatives related to human rights education; Experience working with diverse student body. Experience working within a post-secondary context is strongly preferred. A thorough understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA and relevant legislation/case law.
SKILLS:
Computer experience required, including standard office computer applications (Microsoft 365); SharePoint; web design skills, content management software (Wordpress preferred); Acrobat and other Adobe software is an asset.
Strong written and oral communication skills; Excellent Internet research skills.
Ability to discuss sensitive and complex matters with political acuity.
