Responsibilities

Thiess are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor for our Eva Copper Mine project located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.
As our next Health and Safety Advisor you will report to the project Health, & Safety Manager -supporting the planning, coordination and problem solving of all functional health and safety issues.
This role is being offered as a max-term contract through to October 2027, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!
This is a dynamic, hands-on role where flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly are key to your success. This role will include a focus on occupational health aspects within the workplace; you will be responsible for providing coordination and technical advice in relation to occupational health, injury management and hygiene matters.

Working an 8/6 roster, your main responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Assist with the coordination of all functional safety issues including the maintenance of relevant records and reports
  • Play a pivotal role in the implementation of the injury management process
  • Drive a strong safety culture and liaise with other departments to ensure achievement of the site’s safety objectives
  • Champion all applicable Health and Safety Laws, Regulations and statutory obligations at all times
  • Assist site department owners in the completion and facilitation of Workplace Risk Assessments and Incident Investigations
  • Conduct on site D&A Testing
  • Coordinate and manage incident reporting inclusive work and non-work-related injury rehabilitation and illness
  • Align the health and injury management processes with company policies and procedures including workplace insurance claims.
  • Assist Supervisors and employees with the Return-to-Work process by developing proactive and timely strategies including individual health management plans
  • Assist with the coordination of the hygiene exposure monitoring program with the site service provider
  • Assist in the development and delivery of health promotion initiatives for the Eva Copper workforce
