Description
Advisor Ministerial Support Temporary opportunity up to 30 June 2026 Clerk Grade 7/8 base Salary $113,574 - $125,720 per annum plus super This is located Sydney CBD or Gosford Genuinely flexible working arrangements. Wellbeing programs and resources available. Excellent career development and learning development opportunities About the role SIRA’s Office of the Chief Executive is strengthening the capacity and capability of its Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (MaPS) function. This role is the central coordination point between SIRA, the Minister’s Office, parliamentary bodies, and DCS Cabinet & Parliamentary Services – owning the flow of information, shaping the narrative, and ensuring the reputation of the organisation is represented at its best publicly. You’ll bring structure, pace, and quality assurance to a high-stakes environment, with direct visibility across executive and parliamentary forums. What you will do Coordinate end-to-end ministerial and parliamentary business: plan, allocate, track and drive timely completion of ministerial requests, parliamentary questions and contributions to government processes. Prepare, review and quality-assure all correspondence: House Folder Notes (HFN), Questions on Notice (QoN), Standing Order 52 (SO52) responses and executive briefs – ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency. Ready SIRA witnesses for parliamentary committees and executive appearances: contribute to coordination and production of briefing packs for Senior Executive/s, synthesising complex material to produce crisp, defensible positions. Provide expert advice on protocols and requirements: guide leaders and SMEs on parliamentary process, ministerial expectations and best-practice government engagement. Raise the standard: challenge unclear inputs, re-work content to make it fit for purpose, and set clear expectations for timeliness and quality across the business. Drive continuous improvement: streamline workflows, leverage technology, and embed transparency and accountability in MaPS processes. Foster strong relationships: build trusted links across SIRA, DCS and government stakeholders to support effective advocacy and representation. What we’re looking for You are a confident, structured and methodical person who asserts presence and earns trust quickly. Specifically: Influence senior leaders and set clear expectations; hold others to account on deadlines and quality. Exceptional attention to detail; you spot inconsistencies, ask incisive questions, and fix the problem - not just flag it. Critical analysis and judgement: synthesise diverse inputs, conduct PESTLE-style scanning, and translate complexity into clear, actionable instructions for SMEs. Write and brief with precision: plain English, logically structured, audience appropriate. Deep familiarity with NSW Parliamentary/Ministerial processes and the artefacts of government correspondence (HFNs, QoNs, SO52s, committee hearings, Budget Estimates). Resilience under pressure: multiple deadlines, political sensitivity and changing priorities – while maintaining discretion and confidentiality. Tech-savvy: confident with records, information and workflow systems; you use tools to lift output and quality. Why join SIRA? Impact with visibility: shape how SIRA engages with Parliament and the Minister’s Office; your work will be seen and relied upon at senior levels. A mandate to lift standards: the role exists to support the stabilisation of the team and reset processes – your improvements will stick. Professional growth: exposure to executive decision-making, complex issues and high-profile matters and forums, supported by the Office of the Chief Executive – with opportunities to act in higher grade roles for the right candidate. Values-aligned public purpose: contribute to better regulatory outcomes through disciplined, transparent, and accurate government engagement.
