About the Office of the Public Service Commissioner The Office of the Public Service Commissioner (OPSC) is a division within the Premier’s Department, supporting the independent Public Service Commissioner appointed under the Government Sector Employment Act 2013. The Commissioner plays a critical role in promoting integrity, impartiality, accountability and leadership across the NSW government sector, strengthening public confidence in government and fostering a high‑performing, ethical government sector. About the Role The GSE Rules and Merit team within the Policy & Programs Branch is seeking an Advisor to join the team on an ongoing basis. In this role, you will contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of programs and initiatives that build capability across the NSW public sector. You will support the provision of high‑quality, evidence‑based advice to agencies on the application of the Government Sector Employment (GSE) legislative framework, including GSE Rules and merit‑based recruitment principles. You will work on complex and time‑critical matters, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, and contribute to initiatives that promote consistent, fair and professional employment practices across government. This role offers exposure to whole‑of‑government workforce priorities and a unique opportunity to build deep expertise in the GSE framework while contributing to work that has a meaningful impact on public sector integrity, capability and outcomes. We're Looking For Policy and program experience: Demonstrated experience supporting policy, programs or initiatives in a complex public sector or regulatory environment Legislative interpretation: Experience interpreting and applying legislation, rules or frameworks, or the ability to quickly develop expertise in these areas Analytical capability: Demonstrated research and analytical skills, with the ability to develop evidence‑based advice on complex and time‑critical matters Written communication: Proven ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate written material, including briefings, guidance and stakeholder communications Stakeholder engagement: Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide practical, client‑focused advice Delivery and prioritisation: Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
