Public Affairs Advisor Sydney or Melbourne | Hybrid Working About the Opportunity As Public Affairs Advisor, you'll help shape our external reputation, strengthen relationships with government and industry, and provide strategic advice on policy developments impacting Australia's higher education sector. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Public Affairs, you'll work closely with Executive Leadership, government stakeholders, and industry bodies to deliver high-impact engagement strategies that support organisational growth, strengthen our reputation, and position Torrens University as a trusted leader in education. Responsibilities include: Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies with government, parliamentarians, regulators and industry associations Build and maintain trusted relationships with political, bureaucratic and industry stakeholders Coordinate stakeholder meetings, forums and external engagement activities Develop communication plans supporting public affairs priorities Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on public policy, regulatory developments and reputational risks Prepare high-quality briefing papers, reports and presentations for Executive Leadership Monitor emerging policy trends and provide timely analysis and recommendations Support organisational leadership in representing Torrens University across public policy discussions and industry forums Evaluate stakeholder engagement activities and recommend continuous improvements Contribute to broader Communications & Public Affairs initiatives as required Skills & Experience Must Have 7+ years' experience in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, government relations or a similar strategic role Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science or a related discipline Experience engaging with government, regulators, industry associations and senior stakeholders Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability Proven ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders Excellent relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholder groups Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Nice to have Experience within higher education, government, public policy or regulated industries Understanding of Australia's higher education and regulatory environment Experience preparing executive briefing materials and policy submission How to Apply Click APPLY to submit your application.
