Wellington based position only Work on sensitive and interesting cross-cutting issues Collaborative team supporting important statutory and regulatory decisions Midpoint of $80,848 dependent on experience Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do The Advisor provides high‑quality advice, analysis, and operational support to support the delivery of the Ministry’s work programme. The role spans multiple regulatory regimes, including the Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act 1977, the End of Life Choice Act 2019, the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, and the Compensation for Live Organ Donors Act 2016. Advisors work across the full work programme and must be comfortable engaging with a wide range of legislation and regulatory challenges within these regulatory regimes. Working collaboratively across teams and with a range of stakeholders, the role supports statutory and advisory functions, contributes to policy, programme, and service development, and helps drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and tools. The Advisor ensures all work is well‑researched, timely, and aligned with the Ministry’s legislative and regulatory responsibilities and strategic objectives. Provide secretariat support to statutory committees and advisory groups, including advice, agenda development, and accurate minute taking Research, analyse information, and prepare clear written advice to support decision‑making Support the development and implementation of policies, programmes, business cases, and operational frameworks Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including advice and responding to public enquiries Ensure high-quality delivery through effective time management, record keeping, and continuous process improvement Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. health, regulation, or law) and experience working within legislative and regulatory frameworks Proven experience providing high‑quality secretariat support to statutory committees, roles, or advisory/working groups Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to develop options and provide sound, well‑reasoned advice Excellent organisation and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and tailor messages to diverse audiences You will have the ability to remain impartial while working on issues of a sensitive nature Ngā hua o tō mātou whare - What we bring Discover a world of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
