Job Description
The SH&E Coordinator will be responsible to assist with identifying SH&E requirements. With the ability to assess and monitor compliance requirements and alignment with local SH&E legislative and regulatory obligations, as well as project and AECOM business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Safety or related field, NEBOSH GC and/or proven equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in the relevant field

Responsibilities
  • Serving as the field/project point of contact for SH&E matters.
  • Identify AECOM, Project, and Legislative requirements and align stakeholder compliance.
  • Conduct daily inspections of contractor activities to ensure compliance with contractors’ SH&E Policies, plans, and other obligations.
  • Undertake daily visual inspections, report issues, and submit observation findings to the contractor via the project reporting system. Follow up on the close-out within established timeframes.
  • Coordinate and attend site SH&E meetings. If required, this may include chairing and recording the meetings.
  • Submit safety inspection reports to the Resident Engineer and/or project leads and engage their support.
  • Review risk mitigation documentation, such as plans, procedures, and task-specific Safe Work Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Check SH&E requirements in method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work procedures submitted by the contractor, ensuring activities are in line with the safe work methodology.
  • Check appropriate maintenance, calibration, and operation of all safety equipment.
  • Check site security, fire, first aid, and welfare facilities and ensure procedures appropriate to the works are provided and adequately maintained.
  • Assist in the investigation of all incidents and near misses, and report in accordance with client requirements and AECOM procedures. Ensure that necessary preventative measures are identified based on the worst potential consequences and applied effectively.
  • Set a high personal example of Health & Safety at all times.
  • Provide upstream reports regularly to the Project and SH&E Leads.
  • Attend risk assessment training and request other relevant training as appropriate.
