Support assurance activity and monitoring deep dives Build practical monitoring skills while supporting disciplined, risk‑based oversight Permanent | Wellington based position | 4.4 weeks annual leave Midpoint of $80,848 dependent on your professional skills and experience Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do This is a great opportunity to contribute to how the Ministry monitors service delivery and performance across the health system. As Adviser, Service Performance Monitoring, you’ll support day‑to‑day monitoring activity by gathering information, preparing monitoring products, tracking actions and helping surface emerging issues early. Working alongside Senior and Principal Advisers, you’ll build practical monitoring skills while supporting disciplined, risk‑based oversight of service performance and Government health targets. You will Support core service‑performance monitoring by gathering, validating and synthesising information on delivery, access and emerging issues across assigned service areas, including hospital and specialist services where relevant. Support monitoring of health targets by tracking milestones, maintaining monitoring logs, preparing summary updates and identifying emerging risks or anomalies for escalation. Prepare monitoring products and reporting including briefings, summaries, dashboards and logs that clearly present performance signals, risks and emerging issues to agreed standards. Support assurance activity and deep dives by collating information, contributing analysis, coordinating inputs and tracking actions arising from targeted assurance or escalated monitoring. Enable effective coordination and continuous improvement by supporting monitoring rhythms, stakeholder engagement, timely escalation, improving tools and guidance, and embedding equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations in all work. Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring Experience in a monitoring, assurance or governance related field with understanding and application of monitoring and assurance concepts and frameworks. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to work with complex and sometimes incomplete information and identify key themes, risks and implications. Ability to translate analysis into clear, well-structured written advice and monitoring products suitable for senior audiences. Ability to exercise sound judgement to recognising when risks are emerging and appropriate escalation is required Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages and present information clearly and accurately.
