Fiber Network Services is a communications contractor offering a full range of fiber optic and cable network services. Servicing Cox Communications, Comcast Cable, Segra and Suddenlink in the States of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and in Washington D.C., we are a trusted resource for cabling and maintaining high-speed internet connectivity via fiber optic and coaxial systems. Fiber Network Services is looking for an Aerial Groundhand for our Somerset, PA location. The Aerial Groundhand assists the Aerial crew by furnishing tools, materials, and supplies; cleaning work area, machines, and tools, holding materials or tools for other workers and performing traffic control duties. Job Responsibilities (but not limited to): * Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones. * Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. * Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. * Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities. * Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications. * Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed. * Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications. * Tend to the pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment. * Erect or dismantle traffic barricades or other temporary structures for safety. * Lubricate and clean machinery, equipment, or tools. * Utilize machinery, such as directional drill, to drill holes in many different types of dirt and clay. Job Requirements: * High School Diploma or Equivalent * Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in underground construction for CATV telecommunications systems * Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance * Knowledge of relevant safety procedures in a construction setting * Experience working in a Field environment * Able to work in inclement weather * Able to work with a flexible schedule * Able to pass a background check and drug test ABLE TO PASS A DOT PHYSICAL Benefits: * 401k * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Holidays * Sick leave * Vacation * FLSA Status: Exempt * Casual work environment If you meet the qualifications above and are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to apply for this position.
