Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Direct and execute engineering efforts focused on aircraft weaponization, including Hydra 70 rocket launchers, air launched effects, configurable munitions launchers, aircraft structural modifications, and structural interfaces. Ensure compliance with relevant FAA and military specifications. Design components, assemblies, systems, and technical data packages that interface with electromechanical systems, aircraft structures, weapon interfaces, control systems, and personnel.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Experience in mechanical design related to aircraft systems, commercial or military craft.
  • Experience in project management.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to mechanical design on commercial or military aircraft.
  • Experience with sheet metal and aircraft design.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage configuration updates, data transfers, and technical recommendations for the GAU-19 weapon system, providing oversight of the technical data and CAD packages.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and programmatic level meetings, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with vendors, electrical engineers, structural analysts, manufacturing teams, A&P mechanics, and supply chain personnel to ensure design intent and production goals are achieved.
  • Produce CAD models, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, installation instructions, and modification documentation using SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and CREO PTC for machined, sheet metal, and composites.
  • Supervise and support fabrication and testing of first-article designs, providing hands-on assistance, manufacturing support, and deviation disposition as required.
  • Author and review technical reports and other documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
