Description

Location: Atlanta, GA
Company: Earthly Dynamics Corporation (EDC)
Type: Full-time | On-site
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; DoD clearance eligibility preferred
About EDC:
Earthly Dynamics Corporation (EDC) is a leader in aerospace research, development, and flight testing, specializing in autonomous aerial delivery, guided parafoils, and lightweight propulsion systems. Our innovations support U.S. DoD operations and allied defense needs, bridging the gap between advanced R&D and real-world field applications. We’re a small, agile team with big impact — and we’re looking for a hands-on Machinist-Fabricator to help bring our next-generation systems to flight.
Position Summary:
As EDC’s Aerospace Machinist-Fabricator, you’ll play a key role in the rapid development, prototyping, and integration of flight hardware for autonomous aerial delivery platforms. This position combines precision machining with fabrication and welding, supporting everything from control housings and mounts to welded frames, structural components, and test fixtures. You’ll work alongside engineers in a fast-paced R&D environment where your ability to iterate, problem-solve, and adapt will directly influence mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC mills/lathes to machine precision parts for flight and ground test systems
  • Fabricate lightweight aerospace structures using TIG/MIG welding, cutting, forming, and sheet metal tools
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T specs, and CAD-generated layouts for prototype builds
  • Inspect and verify tolerances using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges
  • Collaborate with engineers on part design feedback and manufacturability
  • Assist in integration and assembly of flight systems
  • Fabricate and maintain test fixtures and specialized tooling
  • Support occasional off-site build or test activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in precision machining and metal fabrication
  • Proficiency with manual machining; exposure to CNC equipment and programming preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in TIG/MIG welding, especially aluminum and stainless steel (thin wall tubing and brackets)
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and familiarity with tolerances
  • Hands-on experience building one-off or low-volume parts
  • Excellent mechanical intuition and problem-solving skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace, DoD, or UAV prototype experience
  • Knowledge of small diesel engines, propeller systems, or control housings
  • Familiarity with airdrop systems
  • Experience fabricating lightweight airframes, skids, or mounts
  • Background in rapid prototyping, test support, or military systems integration
  • Eligible for a U.S. security clearance

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous flight systems that support national defense
  • Direct influence on product development in a small, engineering-driven team
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • Access to an in-house machine shop, weld station, and rapid prototyping equipment
  • Supportive culture focused on mission success, safety, and innovation
