Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality (preferred), Engineering, Production/Operations Management, or a related field OR a total of nine (9) or more total years of hands-on QA experience may substitute for the college degree required, as appropriate.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience working in a Quality function within an Aerospace or other highly regulated industry required.
  • At least one (1) years’ experience as a supervisor, team lead, or other leadership role within a Quality or laboratory environment with management responsibilities for technical and non-technical employees required.
  • Prior experience with Quality management systems required.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises a team of hourly QA Technicians and Quality Inspectors at the Wallingford plant, providing guidance on production expectations, coaching for success and improvement, and training team members in quality analysis tools and methods.
  • Develops and implements proactive quality methodologies to transform the organization from reactionary to proactive, actively promoting continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing costs and meeting or exceeding customer and company goals.
  • Ensures the team meets audit, production, and PPG standards and procedures, maintaining companywide compliance with quality systems, including ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications, and oversees document control in accordance with these standards.
  • Assists the Quality Manager with root cause analysis of failed products, documents results, compiles records, and supports other quality-related investigations as needed.
  • Owns the implementation of quality systems in the aerospace manufacturing environment, serving as a leader in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and quality control plans, including implementing and tracking Process FMEAs.
  • Investigates detailed production control issues related to processes, methods, standards, specifications, inspection, and testing equipment, and facilitates team member process improvement suggestions using problem-solving methods.
  • Coordinates activities for the Non-Conformance Reporting System, Material Review Board, and Purchase Order (PO) contract review, while generating quality metrics and reports to support departmental objectives.
