Job Description We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Aerospace Systems Engineer to support component and sub-system investigations providing documentation of field events and component returns. The engineer must combine technical forensics, rigorous root cause analysis, and clear customer communication to capture event timelines, preserve evidence, and deliver definitive findings. Domains of focus include aircraft hydro-mechanical systems, electronic control systems, and embedded software platforms. The ideal candidate has in-depth familiarity of certification-driven development environments, as well as strong skills in requirements management and systems integration. Must be able to self-manage while working in customer settings. Able to technically lead small team is desired. Key Responsibilities: Perform technical forensics Review and analyze control software data and requirements, installation and maintenance history, and hardware specifications to reconstruct event timelines and identify root causes. System Requirements & Architecture Define, manage, trace, and verify system-level and software-level requirements (ARP4754A, ARP4761). Development & Integration Contribute to cradle-to-grave development of electronic control systems, including propeller and flight management systems. Coordinate between cross-functional teams in software integration and V&V (DO-178B/C) for flight-critical applications. Verification & Validation Develop and execute validation and verification plans for DO-178-certified systems. Conduct software root cause analysis, risk mitigation, and issue resolution. Documentation and reporting Produce concise, technically rigorous incident reports, executive summaries, timelines, and recommended corrective actions for customers, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders. Present findings clearly to engineering teams and program management, coordinate technical briefings and post-incident reviews. Customer and stakeholder communication Represent the company while working directly with customer assigned technical focal points. Must be able to prioritize tasks, set and meet delivery dates, and directly resolve priority/schedule conflicts with project management. Project & Technical Leadership At times, may be part of teams of two or three individuals. Ability to operate as the technical expert mentoring and training others. Opportunity to oversee efforts as a project management is available for high achieving individuals. Drive continuous enhancement of engineering tools, metrics, and methodologies.  Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to engage directly with clients at all organizational levels  Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously  Skilled at delivering clear, concise, and actionable information under time constraints  Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support events and client engagements Qualifications 5+ years of experience in in systems engineering, avionics engineering, embedded systems investigations, or related roles with significant field investigation responsibility. Deep knowledge of avionics architectures, flight control systems, electronic control units, sensor fusion, and embedded real-time software. Proven leadership of certified avionics or embedded systems projects. Expertise in: DOORS, Python MS Excel, C/C++, and embedded development environments. Requirements management, Change management Traceability, systems integration, V&V, Certification processes (DO-178C, ARP4761 or equivalent). Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. U.S. citizenship is required. Dual citizenship should be disclosed. Preference if located in the Hartford area. Otherwise, must be able to travel approximately eight weeks in the year.
