Job Description Job Title: AFC Maintenance Technician – Gates & TVMs Location: Dubai, UAE Employment Type: Full-time | Shift-based The AFC Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting AFC equipment, including gates, Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), validators, and associated peripheral and network-connected devices. The role will act as first and second line support to ensure high system availability, fast fault recovery, and proper escalation of complex technical issues. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on AFC equipment, including gates, TVMs, validators, and related devices. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, electronic, hardware, and basic software faults. Diagnose failures and restore equipment to service efficiently. Replace faulty modules, sub-assemblies, spare parts, and consumables. Perform basic software checks, log reviews, device access, and service restarts. Support LAN and IP connectivity checks for AFC devices. Execute functional testing after maintenance and repair activities. Handle routine faults as well as complex technical incidents. Perform root cause analysis for recurring failures and equipment issues. Escalate major, systemic, or unresolved failures to engineering or Level 3 support with clear technical reports. Record incidents, actions taken, spare parts used, and components replaced in the maintenance system. Comply with rail safety, operational, access, and site procedures at all times. Qualifications Diploma or ITI in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Technical maintenance, field support, or equipment maintenance certification is an advantage. Technical Skills Required Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including power supply, wiring, breakers, relays, and related components. Mechanical maintenance experience covering motors, flaps, locks, belts, alignment, and moving mechanisms. Basic electronics knowledge, including sensors, readers, I/O boards, and electronic modules. Basic IT and networking knowledge, including IP addressing, LAN, and connectivity checks. Basic Linux or software handling experience, including logs, service restart, and device access. Ability to read schematics, drawings, technical documentation, and maintenance manuals. Strong fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and hands-on repair capabilities. Experience 3 to 5 years of hands-on field maintenance experience. Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred: AFC systems, metro or rail environments, gates, TVMs, validators, ATMs, kiosks, vending machines, access control systems, or electro-mechanical equipment. Additional Information Working Conditions Shift-based work, including weekends and public holidays. Night shifts may be required. On-call duty may be required for breakdown and emergency support. Work will be performed in live operational rail stations. Personal Attributes Strong troubleshooting mindset with a hands-on approach. Ability to work independently during incidents and breakdowns. Good understanding of integrated systems combining electrical, mechanical, electronic, and software components. Fast fault isolation and service recovery approach. Clear communication, documentation, and reporting skills. Safety-focused, reliable, and able to work under operational pressure.
