The Romney Institute of Public Service and Ethics at BYU invites applications for a Faculty Affiliate – Local Government (City Manager in Residence) position. This part-time, non-tenure track, no-salary affiliate role is designed for an experienced city manager who is passionate about mentoring and developing the next generation of public service leaders.

Required Degree: Bachelor’s degree. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

EXPERIENCE:

• Substantial experience in local government leadership (e.g., current or former city manager)
• Passion for mentoring and supporting graduate students
• Alignment with the mission and values of BYU and the Romney Institute

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support student development in local government careers
• Attend ICMA, UCMA conferences with students
• Participate in 1–2 MPA Career Exploration/Development classes per semester
• Participate in 1–2 Local Government I and/or II classes per semester
• Co-advise the BYU ICMA Student Chapter, including case competitions and applied projects
• Attend and contribute to career services and alumni events focused on local government
