Description Pay Structure: hourly. Reports to: Director of Youth Programs Summary: This position will safely transport children to and from scheduled location. In addition to maneuvering the van, the YC Van Driver will also help children on and off the van, as well as occasionally accommodate children with disabilities by loading and unloading wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and other medically necessary items. Essential Functions Observe the speed limit, all road signs, and signal signs. Maintain a working knowledge of AR Minimum Licensing Requirements regarding transportation. Be aware of and report any van issues regarding cleanliness and maintenance. Be attentive to all activities in and around the van to assure safe transportation. Greet children as they enter and exit the van. Work effectively and professionally with schools, off-site activity personnel, and co-workers. Bring all concerns or problems to the attention of the Youth Programs Director. Uphold our principle to “Improve the Day.” Requirements Qualifications Must be 21 years of age or older. Possess a current driver’s or commercial driver’s license as required by state law. Successfully complete an approved training course in Driver Safety. Desire to work with diverse groups of children. Exhibit professionalism, patience, self-motivation, high energy, positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and good organizational skills. Commitment to our values: family, fun, hospitality, integrity, and care. Working Environment/Physical Activities Driving 1-13 pre-school to school-age children amid constant chatter. Sitting for up to 2 hours, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Some interaction with school administration and off-site activity personnel. Constant interaction with children, parents, co-workers, members, and guests of the Little Rock Athletic Club.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the safe transportation of children to and from scheduled locations, which includes adhering to speed limits and road signs. Additionally, the attendant must assist children entering and exiting the van, including accommodating those with disabilities by loading and unloading necessary mobility aids.
