ABOUT US:

Westside Montessori Academy (WMA) is an independent school in East Vancouver offering an engaging Montessori program for students from Kindergarten through Grade 7. Our After-School Club extends the WMA experience with a safe, fun, and enriching environment for children aged 5 to 12 years.
We are seeking a warm, creative, and organized After-School Club Coordinator to lead, coordinate, and develop our variety of after-school clubs offered each full school day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys planning engaging activities, building relationships with children and families, and leading a small team in a collaborative, child-centred setting.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Responsible Adult Certificate, Early Childhood Education (ECE), or BC Teacher Certification
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting (ideally in a supervisory role)
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Screening)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergencies and calmly manage challenging behaviours
Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead a variety of themed weekly and monthly clubs (e.g., arts & crafts, games, nature play)
  • Oversee the daily operation of all after-school club offerings and ensure programming aligns with WMA’s values
  • Supervise children aged 5–12, ensuring their physical and emotional safety
  • Model and implement positive behaviour guidance strategies
  • Supervise and support after-school staff and volunteers, including scheduling and arranging coverage during staff absences or illness
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, incident logs, and health documentation
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families during pickup
  • Maintain a clean, calm, and welcoming after-school club environment
