Job Details Job Location: John McClure Snook Family YMCA - Foley, AL 36535 YMCA program objectives to be met by the After School programs are as follows: Grow personally Become better leaders and supporters Clarify values Appreciate diversity Develop skills Improve personal and family relations HAVE FUN! Implement and model character development The counselor works directly with the participants and under the supervision of the After School Director. The counselor has to present, carry-out and participate in the program while insuring the total safety of the participants. The counselor must have skills in working with, caring for, and engaging school-age youth. The counselor should also have skills in basic First Aid, CPR and facility safety. In addition, he/she must be able to carry out plans in a positive way. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. To maintain safety at all times by never leaving children unattended. 2. Have total accountability for his/her group. 3. Participate positively in activities with the children. 4. Maintain upkeep of equipment, supplies, facilities, and vehicles. 5. Attend scheduled staff meetings. 6. Spend individual time with each child when given the opportunity. Qualifications 1. At least 18 years of age. 2. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid. 3. Desire and ability to work with children. 4. Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
Responsibilities
