Description Description San Marcos Academy is currently seeking part-time Recreation and After School Program Instructors in the Student Life Department. This position is excellent for those seeking experience in recreation, event planning, or education. Responsible for promoting and assisting in the student Life program. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1) Monitor and supervise students in the Recreation Center and K-5 After School Program 2) Serve as a positive role model through appropriate behavior and personal standards 3) Hold students accountable to the expectations of the department and student handbook 4) Assist with all aspects of department operations 5) Plan and lead organized activities 6) Promote participation in daily activities 7) Plan and facilitate large activities effectively 8) Maintain student accountability 9) Perform duties safely and follow policies and procedures 10) Complete administrative tasks as needed 11) Assist with on campus events 12) Other duties as assigned Requirements SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work flexible hours, to include evenings and weekends REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to follow written and spoken directions 2. Understanding basic safety precautions 3. Ability to recognize and react to emergencies 4. Certification in CPR and First Aid 5. Hold a current Texas Driver’s License 6. Ability to transport students on and off-campus (preferred) 7. Knowledge of adolescent development 8. Strong organizational skills 9. Ability to do research, gather content, and organize information 10. Proficiency in prioritizing and organizing assignments 11. Ability to meet deadlines and work with internal team members while maintaining a self-directed approach to ongoing projects 12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 13. Demonstrated commitment to customer service 14. Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in the workplace 15. Ability to collaborate with a diverse population16. Represent SMA with appropriate appearance The wage is $10.00 per hour 10-20 hours per week with flexible hours available.
