"I CAN DO THIS!” WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum 16 years old or a high school graduate or enrolled in an accredited vocational program.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Basic knowledge of acceptable child care and day camp practices.
  • Knowledge of acceptable child care and day camp practices.
  • Demonstrates initiative to plan, lead and participate in activities.
  • Familiarity with mandated reporting and steps that need to be taken.
  • Certifications (must be maintained and current at all times):
  • CPRFirst Aid certifications through American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Course must be completed in person. Online only or blended courses will not meet this requirement.
  • Preventative Health through an EMSA recognized organization.
  • Mandated Reporter through Mandated Reporter California (to be completed as part of the hiring process)
  • Pest Management through California Department of Pesticide Regulation (to be completed as part of the hiring process)
  • Must have Health Screening and TB clearance (to be completed as part of the hiring process)
  • Must have up-to-date TDAP, MMR, and Influenza vaccinations.
  • Criminal records clearance (to be completed during the hiring process)
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
  • This position may require the ability to stand and / or sit for extended periods of time, wade in water in order to supervise children, able to walk continuously at least mile, spend a full workday outdoors in any weather condition.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate curriculum and program activities within the established guidelines.
  • Nurture children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervise the children, classroom or site, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
  • Uses positive reinforcement techniques to address children’s behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain program site and equipment.
  • Maintain required program records.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, trainings and completes all assigned online trainings.
  • Attend and participate in family nights, as well as program activities
