Catholic Charities Atlanta is seeking a dedicated team member with strong organization and program management skills, to join our team as our new part-time (approximately 10-15 hours) Education and Support Specialist. This part-time position in our Family Stabilization Services will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging and educational activities for youth in a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a strong desire to make a positive impact on their lives. The program will run 3 days per week (M-F) from 3pm-6pm with occasional weekends and evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field (education, social work, sociology, international relations, etc.)
  • Direct experience working with youth
  • Extensive knowledge of the American school/education system required
  • Understanding of accreditation standards
  • Significant experience with MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Reliable transportation and valid Georgia driver’s license

Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and deliver services related to the Youth After-School Program according to the stipulations of Agency policies & procedures, funding source regulations, and accepted “best practices.”.
  2. Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and lessons for students.
  3. Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times.
  4. Provide homework assistance and academic support.
  5. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  7. Provide accurate, thorough and up-to-date case note documentation on all client services performed. Complete case file documentation in accordance with Agency/Program policies & procedures, and funding source regulations.
  8. Responsible to provide and/or coordinate services within the Family Stabilization Services team as needed for clients, including crisis intervention, and/or arranging for services through another service provider.
  9. Gather, maintain and report accurate, thorough and reliable data on clients and services delivered, as prescribed by immediate supervisor, and funding sources.
  10. Collaborate and maintain a positive working relationship with other staff and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and effective program. Responsible for knowing, supporting and adhering to the policies and procedures of Catholic Charities Atlanta and the Family Stabilization Services.
  11. Responsible for representing Catholic Charities Atlanta and Family Stabilization Services to the community, the Archdiocese, funders and other service providers in a professional, accurate and positive manner. Maintain strong working relationships with other youth service agencies and community based organizations in the area.
  12. Responsible for meeting with immediate supervisor on a regular basis and actively uses supervision to strengthen skills and grow as a professional. Responsible for meeting individual benchmarks and other performance measures. Addresses areas of concern in a timely and productive manner. Remains open to feedback from team members and supervisors.
