Description
The position of Agronomy Field Technician is of great significance to Valley Agronomics. A person in this position is supporting the Agronomy staff and learning job skills that will benefit the tech. The Agronomy Field Tech is responsible for data collection and analysis and research reporting from research fields. This is a safety-sensitive position. Job Summary:  These are the basic requirements of the position and must be performed competently. * Scout farm fields for insects, weeds and diseases. Including trap checking orchards. * Sample soil and plant tissue for nutrient status. * Draw grass seed sample for moisture testing. * Set up and evaluate test plots. * Deliver products to customers as needed. * Map farm fields and monitor yields using precision ag technology. * Work with other Outside Sales team members to more efficiently serve our customers. * Work closely with plant staff to ensure customer needs are met in a timely fashion. * Use computers to formulate mixes, record grower contacts, work orders, recommendations and email * Attend training sessions to become abreast of latest technology. * Operate Company vehicle in a safe and professional manner. * Follow Company and safety rules. * Travel to, and work at or around, other Ag facilities throughout Valley Agronomics as needed. * Other duties, responsibilities and/or tasks as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES: * Knowledge of computer systems operation and associated software. * Knowledge of insects and diseases related to Agriculture. * Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Good math skills. * Familiarity with farm operations preferred. * Valid drivers? license required. * Ability to obtain a forklift certificate. * High school graduate or greater. * Crop Science degree preferred.
