Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

An AgTech Operator is passionate about farming and interested in making a ground level difference by bringing innovation and technology to the next generation of farming. Understand how farming and technology interact and support field trials to define and also refine future farming practices. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of advanced equipment implementations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participation in the integration of viticulture best practice and new technology (e.g., alternative fuels, remote operated, semi-autonomous, new software, etc.) to advance current farming practices.
  • Participation in the development and implementation site work program with a focus on ensuring operational quality, employee safety and ensuring key HSE objectives are attained
  • Performs daily pre-start inspections and routine maintenance, including, but not limited to: fuel, fluids levels, lubrication, tire pressure, lug nuts, safety guards, seat belts, 3-point linkage, draw bar, lights and gauges.
  • Maintain documentation of work performed on a daily/job basis
  • Identifies and provide clear communication to Managers, Foreman and Mechanics on machine statuses when there may be mechanical problems associated with equipment or environment.
  • Operates tractors properly with attached or towed equipment, safely and accurately in open fields and confined vineyards with varied terrain, avoiding damage to equip, property, fellow workers and public.
  • Handle agricultural materials including pesticide and fertilizer mixing, loading and application with completed training.
  • Participate in plant maintenance and safety procedures: Change Management, SOP’s, Risk Assessments and Training.
  • Properly uses all of the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for specific tasks (i.e. hard hats, gloves, reflective vests, safety boots, chemical aprons, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Fork-lift operation with completed training.
