This is not your average Aged Care Nurse Practitioner role! It’s a new and unique opportunity to become Catholic Healthcare’s 1st internal Wound, Pressure Area Care and Continence Nurse Practitioner! With the backing, support and job security of a large leading Aged Care provider this role with mark the exciting beginning of a new innovative, internal consultative service offering to our valued clients and residents.
As a member of the broader Practice, Quality and Risk team, you will apply your Aged Care experience and expertise and your commitment to high-quality clinical aged care to support via hands on billable clinical practice and consultation in wounds, infection control, and continence care.
Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Senior Palliative Care Lead who is also a Nurse Practitioner and the broader Practice Development and Quality and Clinical Governance Team, to support our Residential Aged Care, Home Care and Independent Living teams and their clients.
Your exceptional communication and interpersonal capabilities, combined with your innate curiosity and dedication to applying and sharing your knowledge and expertise in wound care, continence management, pressure area and infection control, will be essential to your success in this key role.

Your days will include;

  • Following and implementing contemporary, evidence-based wound, continence care and infection control policy and practices
  • Providing expert clinical leadership and guidance to a team of healthcare professionals, older people, and families
  • Serving as a resource and mentor for other healthcare professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in wound, continence care and infection control practices
  • Fostering a culture of compassionate care and dignity for older people and their families
  • Collaborating with Operations, Clinical Experts and Academic to apply wound management, pressure injury prevention (PIP), continence and infection control programs
  • Implementation of plans to establish, embed, and evaluate the programs
  • Establishing facilities, systems, and processes to support billing and claiming for NP services

The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand and interpret information, effectively navigate teams and influence stakeholders to build clinical capability across the business, in addition to the following;

  • Endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner by NMBA & Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated NP generalist experience in aged care with wound experience - Essential
  • Scope of Practice that includes - Wounds, Pressure Area Care and Continence
  • Advanced degree in nursing (master’s degree or higher) or working towards
  • Demonstrated experience in wound and pressure injury prevention (PIP)
  • Advanced wholistic clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Confidence in using telehealth and other digital solutions to provide remote support and advice
  • Proven leadership and commercial experience in a clinical setting, with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff
  • Understanding of aged care and end-of-life legal and ethical considerations, including advance care directives, consent, and decision-making processes
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering projects
  • Ability to travel to sites across metro and regional NSW & SE QLD
  • A mobile provider number will be required for this position
  • Willingness to obtain Police Check
