About the role

Opoint Pty Ltd is looking for a compassionate Aged or Disabled Carer to provide daily living assistance to older people and people with disability in Bowral. You will help clients manage their everyday needs, maintain a safe and comfortable living environment and stay connected with their community. Your work will be guided by individual care plans and each client's choices, abilities and preferences.

Key responsibilities

• Helping clients complete everyday activities while supporting their confidence and independence.
• Providing sensitive assistance with showering, personal hygiene, grooming and dressing.
• Assisting with mobility and transfers and following agreed procedures for the safe use of mobility equipment.
• Planning and preparing meals with consideration for clients' dietary requirements and food preferences.
• Helping with routine domestic tasks, such as cleaning, vacuuming and laundry.
• Supporting clients to attend outings, social gatherings and recreational activities that reflect their interests.
• Building supportive relationships and offering companionship, reassurance and emotional support.
• Helping clients with shopping and practical errands, including obtaining groceries and household essentials.
• Recording the support provided and communicating any concerns or changes in clients' needs to the relevant team member.

What we are looking for

• ·      At least one year of work experience in the aged care or disability support industry.
• ·      A Certificate III or higher qualification that is highly relevant to aged care or disability support.
• ·      A caring attitude and respect for clients’ dignity, privacy and choices.
• ·      Clear communication and good interpersonal skills.
• ·      A dependable and organised approach to work.
• ·      The ability to follow individual support plans and safe work procedures.
