Position Overview: The Agile Coach plays a critical role in supporting the organizations Agile transformation by directly coaching teams, mentoring Agile practitioners, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. This role focuses on applying Agile principles at the team and program levels, building Agile capabilities across the organization, and helping teams mature in their Agile practices in alignment with ITS SAFe standards. Essential Job Functions: Coach Agile Teams Provide hands-on coaching to Agile teams to adopt and improve Agile practices, principles, and mindset. Facilitate Agile ceremonies and guide teams through sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and PI planning. Build Agile Capability Mentor Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and team members to develop strong Agile capabilities. Train and develop other Agile coaches to build internal coaching capacity. Promote Agile Maturity and Continuous Improvement Conduct Agile maturity assessments and identify areas for improvement. Use metrics to track team performance and coaching impact. Collaborate Across Teams and Programs Work with Release Train Engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to align Agile practices across programs ensuring consistency of practice. Participate in Communities of Practice to share knowledge and align coaching standards. Requirement to adhere to ITS SAFe® standards. Educational Qualifications and Experience: Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, Software development, Marketing, Organizational Change Management or proven related experience as an expert in the relevant areas specified or as an advisor for a large company. Demonstrated experience as a team-level or Agile Coaching required. Responsibility: Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives). Ensure meetings are time-boxed, focused, and produce clear outcomes. Coach the team in estimation, self-organization, and achieving Sprint Goals. Support Program Increment (PI) Planning by helping break down Features into User Stories and define PI Objectives. Identify, track, and remove impediments blocking the team. Protect the team from external interruptions and scope creep. Coordinate dependencies with other teams and the Release Train Engineer (RTE). Coach the team in Agile, Scrum, and engineering best practices. Track and report team metrics such as velocity, burndown, and defect trends. Facilitate retrospectives and ensure improvement actions are implemented. Support the Product Owner with backlog refinement and prioritization. Help define clear acceptance criteria and ensure stories are ready for development. Certification Requirements: Standard Agile Coach Mandatory: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) SAFe® Practice Consultant (SPC) SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) Additional Value (Preferred): SAFe® Agile Product Management (APM) Prosci Change Management Certification Other advanced Agile certifications Required Skills/Abilities: All Agile Coaches (Standard and Premium) are expected to demonstrate the following: Proven technical skills in Agile at Scale, Agile Standards, Agile Transformation Execution, Coaching Metrics and Reporting, and Agile Tooling Strong business skills in Business Objective Alignment, Coaching Strategy, Coaching Roadmap, Communities of Practice, and Root Cause Analysis Excellent adaptable skills in Coaching Oversight, Coaching Support, Fostering Agile Mindset, Coaching Impact, and Technical Debt Management Ability to provide vision, anticipate problems, and offer effective solutions Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, and teamwork skills Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage appropriately at all levels of the organization Role Differentiation Standard Agile Coach: Focused primarily on cross-cutting team-level coaching, Agile practice implementation, and supporting consistent Agile execution across delivery teams.
