Location: Castle Douglas
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: From £17 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Maintenance Engineer to join our client’s small workshop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing agricultural machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as an Agricultural Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of agricultural machinery, including tractors, combines, and irrigation systems.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
  • Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of agricultural equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults in agricultural machinery and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to minimise downtime and enhance productivity across farming operations.
  • Maintain meticulous records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Stay abreast of industry advancements and integrate new technologies (particularly in diagnostics) into maintenance practices as appropriate.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to the operations team on the proper use and care of equipment.
