JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR SKILLED AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY ENGINEER/FITTER

LBG Machinery Ltd are seeking a full time skilled agricultural engineer/fitter/mechanic to join our small team. The business has been established for 20 years and is based in Boxford, Suffolk. We are a dealership trading predominantly in used agricultural machinery for both UK sales and export. We also run our own small farm so maintenance of our own equipment will be part of this role.
The ideal candidate will have experience with diagnosing and repairing a wide range of agricultural equipment. Experience with modern diagnostic tools and software would be an advantage.
Hours per week are 8am - 5pm 5 days per week with 1 hour unpaid break (40 hours per week) with possibility of overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Full UK driving license essential.
  • Proven previous experience within the agricultural/plant industry.
  • Able to demonstrate familiarity with keeping yourself safe around moving machinery.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of agricultural machines.
  • Hydraulic hose manufacture experience an advantage though not essential.
  • A positive, friendly attitude, responsive to changing needs of the business as sales occur and receptive to a challenge.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing and repairing a large range of agricultural and plant machinery, including tractors, combine harvesters, telehandlers and a variety of implements.
  • Performing routine maintenance and preventative care on both our own machinery and machinery for sale.
  • Troubleshooting various mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults as and when they arise.
  • Utilising modern diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve problems.
  • Identifying parts needed and liaising with our various suppliers to procure parts.
  • Communicate effectively with our hire customers regarding equipment issues and repairs. Carry out field repairs as needed (full and valid UK driving license essential for this purpose).
  • Assist yard manager with loading and unloading of machinery when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of machinery repairs and routine maintenance logs.
  • Confidently work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the team depending on the task in hand.
  • Assume responsibility for keeping work area clean, tidy and organised.
  • Appraise machinery as it arrives to assess for faults and to identify work required to produce a saleable machine.
  • Appraise machinery both pre and post hire to identify any damages/wear. Carry out necessary repair and maintenance.
  • Adhere at all times to health and safety aspects relating to role, including the use of PPE when appropriate.
