JOB ADVERTISEMENT: AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Location: Woodside, Adelaide Hills
Company: Vitiworks Pty Ltd
Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week or as required during peak periods)
Salary: $70,000–$78,000 + Superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience)
Vitiworks Pty Ltd is a trusted vineyard management company established in 2013, servicing premium wine regions in the Adelaide Hills. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Agricultural Engineering Technologist to join our dynamic team based in Woodside.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • The minimum formal qualification should be a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering.
  • Preference should be given to applicants with prior experience in an agricultural setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years industry experience.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

· Analyse harvest data (yields, wine quality parameters) to establish and maintain quality standards.

· Assisting in developing new methods of planting, fertilising and harvesting of winegrapes.

  • Examining soil characteristics, analysing soil and petiole results and then determining the most effective way to manage the nutrient deficiencies and requirements.
  • Identifying pests, insects, diseases and weeds that are harmful to crop health and assist in the implementation of fungicide and herbicide spray programs where necessary to minimise crop losses.
  • Analyse harvest and production processes to assist in streamlining costs of production.
  • Collect and compile data for different research projects.
  • Supervision of labour crews for pruning and canopy management
  • Operation of vineyard machinery including:
  • Herbicide and fungicide spraying
  • Machine harvesting
  • Slashing
  • Post knocking
  • Manage several frost control systems including maintenance and scheduling.
  • Maintain, repair, and scheduling of vineyard irrigation systems.
