AGRICULTURE PROJECT MANAGER – INDUSTRIAL FORESTRY SERVICE LTD - FULL-TIME POSITION
Wage: $24-32/hr, negotiated based on qualifications and experience
Hours: Full-time (35-40 hours/week)
Working under the direction of the Science Research Specialist, the Agriculture Project Manager will help manage and implement tasks of various research and extension contracts primarily within agriculture industry. Current contracts are focused in the forage and livestock sector. The position will require periodic travel throughout the province, primarily throughout the Highway 16 and Cariboo regions. The successful candidate will be on-boarded to support and eventually manage existing contracts, while also expected to continue developing new opportunities.
Responsibilities:
· Work collaboratively with Science Research Specialist to maximize productivity and manage existing contracts.
· Must attain a thorough knowledge and familiarity of all aspects of contracts, including the job requirements, general conditions, deadlines, deliverables, project rate schedule, and so on.
· Must create a project itinerary and schedule all IFS staff (and subcontractors, where applicable) associated with the contract, ensure schedule is adhered to as best as possible, and updated accordingly.
· Handle project communications, coordinate and conduct research activities, as contracted.
· Help coordinate extension events (E.g. Workshops, Field Days, Webinars, etc.) and develop extension materials (e.g. Fact Sheets, Case Studies, Manuals, etc.).
· Must liaise with the client regarding all aspects of the contract, including progress reports, scheduling, deliverables, billing, etc. and demonstrate commitment to clients’ needs and confidentiality.
· Must ensure all required deliverables are correct and sent to client within the timeframe of the contract, and to the standards set out by IFS and the contract specifications.
· Must ensure prompt billing of contract deliverables, tracking of billing and deliverables (i.e., Project Progress) and monthly submission of Work in Progress numbers.
Requirements and Qualifications:
· Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary education in agriculture or related field (e.g. natural resources).
· Belong to (or potential to belong to) BC Institute of Agrologists. Professional Agrologist designation preferred, but not required.
· Experience in project management and event coordination and an interest in agriculture research and extension. Experience working with agriculture industry associations a benefit.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Canva, Asana, AirTable, etc.) is an asset.
· Outstanding organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and keen attention to detail.
· Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
· Ability to work independently and provide leadership for various project teams to ensure maximum performance and meeting project deliverables.
